Angelina’s story…
“My name is Angelina Steward and I am a recently single mom to two amazing girls ages two and five; both being my biggest inspiration for everything I do. I am a general manager of a restaurant and I work 60-70 hours a week with an hour commute to work everyday. So like many women in this group I have plenty things that have always been my excuse for not taking care of myself.
February of this year I was with my best friend shopping for my bridesmaid dress for her wedding. I could not fit any dresses in most stores. Wearing a size 22 at this point and weighing in at 260 pounds at 5’5. I decided that day when we found the dress I ordered it in a size 16 and said I would be in it by the wedding. When August rolled around I tried it on, and the dress was too big! I ended up ordering in a 12, talk about a NSV. (non-scale victory))
September 1st, 2015 I took my before pictures and cried, made my challenge board, set my goals and went to work. At the start of the challenge I weighed in at 191 lbs with a 39% body fat, could only run a mile in 17 minutes, and barely do 8 push ups. Even though I had been working out for months and eating right I was not yet where I wanted to be. My goals for the challenge were to hit 31lb weight loss to make my total loss 100 lbs, exercise with my daughters at least twice per week, drink 100oz of water everyday, and really follow the rules of the NEM challenge. So I really had to watch my treats, and not over indulge. I made a plan and focused on sticking to it, and when I messed up I marked it on my calendar, and just kept going.
I would say that since the beginning it has been important to me to try things that I really felt I could do long term, and for quite a while in the beginning I was really focused on low carb, but during the challenge I incorporated more fruit and I really enjoyed the addition. I push to just say NO to fast food which would be what I have lived on my entire life, and am proud to report have not had ANY! My workouts consist of T25, CIZE, Kickboxing at least twice a week, and walking/ jogging.
So my results; I have lost 28 pounds, 20 inches, and am down to 26% body fat. I can run a mile in 10.3c minutes and can do 20 pushups!
This group has really taught me to push hard for what we want, and all though “what’s your excuse?” Can be a hard question it is one we must ask ourselves and live in that. So we can all be the best versions of ourselves and the best mom’s we can be.”
