My name is Lizbeth and I’m 38 years old. I’m a stay at home mom to a 5-year-old girl and a 15-month-old boy. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I also love to eat. I joined this challenge to motivate me to do different…and I have. I want to be healthy for my family and feel good about myself and set a good example for my kids.
I seem to always make excuses for my weight gain, “it’s my knee”, or “it’s just one more cookie”, or “my c-section still hurts”, or “I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome “. All these excuses ended up with me gaining all this extra weight. I was tired of my clothes not fitting me or covering up because I didn’t want my husband to look at me. Even though we’ve been married for 15 years and he has seen me through very very thick to not so very thin…I would look at the mirror and feel disgusted with myself but that was never the case for him. He’s one of the reasons why I joined the challenge, I wanted to feel sexy for him and love myself again. He is my number 1 motivator, always encouraging me that I can do anything and that I am stronger than I think when I wanted to give up.
One of the goals I wanted to accomplish besides losing weight, was to run a mile without stopping. I am now able to do it with a time of 12:35. It may not be a fast time but it’s an accomplishment for me and I hope to improve on that time as I continue on my weight loss journey.
I also wanted to give a huge thank you to the No Excuse Mom Fort Meade group, its leaders and members, who encouraged and motivated me to do different. I wouldn’t have come this far without them as well.
Now that the 12 weeks are coming to an end, I feel good of what I have accomplished. I have lost 20 lbs., I have more confidence and energy now. I am much stronger, happier, and motivated to keep the changes I have made to my lifestyle beyond the 12 weeks. My all-time goal will be to get down to a healthy weight range. After learning about myself these past 12 weeks and what I am capable of, I know I will be able to achieve that goal. No more Excuses!
